Gastric Balloon
$3200

Gastric Balloon (45 mins, 75 sessions)

Gastric Balloon

The Gastric Balloon is a simple gastric surgery device, fitted inside the stomach, to create short term and rapid weight loss. It is a soft, expandable, silicone balloon that is placed inside the stomach via a camera that enters through the mouth and into the stomach. Once inserted in the stomach, the empty balloon is filled with a sterile saline solution.

A gastric balloon aims to reduce feelings of hunger and help you feel fuller for longer after eating only small meals. Also known as an intra gastric balloon, this type of weight loss treatment can help you lose weight without invasive surgery.

Gastric balloons are inserted under sedation in a procedure which takes 20 to 30 minutes. It is performed in an endoscopic room, not an operating room. The surgeon is assisted by anesthesiologist, surgical nurses, assistant surgeon, just as if the having the procedure done in an operating room. It is a relatively minor procedure, but it may take your stomach a little while to get used to the balloon. You will usually be able to go home the same day, or the day after the balloon has been inserted.

Duration times includes placement of the implant (gastric balloon), and recovery time. This is an OUTPATIENT procedure.

This procedure is NOT RECOMMENDED for patients who suffer of gastro-esophageal reflux (acid reflux), severe gastritis or gastric ulcer.

$900 - $1000

Gastric Balloon Removal (30 mins, 45 sessions)

Up to 10% of patients need to have the balloon removed during or after the first week, due to intolerance to the implant.

After six moths, and once the weight loss has been achieved, the balloon is removed in the same way it was placed. Through a non-surgical procedure done under a mild sedative, it is deflated first then removed.

Gastric Band

Lap Band Removal (2 hours, 120 sessions)

LAP BAND RemovalGastric Banding, which is usually performed laparoscopically, is one of the least invasive approaches to obesity because neither the stomach nor the intestine is cut. While gastric banding (or LAP Band surgery) is a semi-permanent procedure it is not uncommon for LAP Band patients to require removal, replacement or repositioning of the device over time.Lap band removal is common… as many as half of all lap band patients eventually have their band taken out for a number of reasons.Reasons for LAP BAND RemovalThere are a number of reasons why a patient might elect to or need to undergo LAP BAND removal or LAP BAND revision. These include:
  • Lack of adequate weight loss (losing less than 25% to 30% of your excess weight) – occurs in up to 40% of gastric band (lap band) patients.
  • How is LAP BAND Removal done?

Just as with the initial placement, the removal or repositioning of a gastric banding device can be done laparoscopically. This means that the entire surgery is conducted using several small surgical instruments and a thin, lighted viewing instrument, all of which are inserted through a few small incisions in the abdomen.

    $5500

Laparoscopic Gastric Banding (45 mins, 120 sessions)

Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) is one of the least invasive operations available for obesity. It is done with a few tiny abdominal cuts (1 cm), instead of with one large cut. The surgeon puts instruments through the cuts. One of those instruments is a laparoscope, a tool with a tiny camera. The surgeon uses these tools to place a band around the top portion of the stomach, leaving a very small pouch available for food. The small pouch means that you feel full after eating only small amounts of food. This will help you lose weight. As its name suggests, the procedure can be adjusted and even reversed.Laparoscopic Gastric Banding Surgery Involves The Following:
  • Using laparoscopic tools, the Dr. Juan A. López Corvalá places an adjustable silicone band around the upper part of the stomach.
  • Reasons For The Procedure

LAGB is used to treat severe obesity, which is linked to hypertension, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis. It is recommended for people who have tried other weight loss plans without long-term success.

Once you lose a significant amount of weight, your risk falls for other weight-related health problems, such as high cholesterol, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and diseases of the heart and lungs. Adjustable gastric banding may help you live longer if you can’t lose weight in other ways.

    $9000 - $11000

Gastric Bypass (3 hours, 240 sessions)

    ROUX Y GASTRIC BYPASS:

This is the most successful malpbsorptive surgery, average excess weight loss of 70% on 12 months . It involves creating a small stomach pouch that serves as a reservoir and restricts food intake. The pouch eventually holds up to 3 ounces of food and has a small outlet that delays emptying and causes a feeling of fullness. Then the surgeon creates a Y-shaped section in the small intestine that attaches to pouch and allows food to bypass the lower stomach and upper part of the intestine. This the surgery most recommended for patients with severe reflux and Diabetes.

    $5000 - $5800

Laparoscopic Gastric Plication (2 hours, 150 sessions)

Laparoscopic Gastric PlicationLaparoscopic Gastric Plication is a restrictive procedure that reduces the size of the stomach and limits food intake. This procedure is also referred to as Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication (LGCP).Gastric plication is a restrictive procedure that reduces the size of the stomach without removing any portion of the gastrointestinal tract, as is the case with the gastric sleeve or gastric bypass. It is a minimally invasive procedure, which means that the surgeon performs surgery through tiny incisions – less than ½ inch each – in the abdomen, rather than a single, large incision. How Gastric Plication Works

    Advantages Of Gastric Plication Surgery

    • Because no part of the stomach is removed, gastric plication may offer a faster recovery over more invasive procedures.
    • Weight loss and disease resolution results are just as good as other types of surgery.
    • The gastric plication procedure may be less expensive than some other surgical weight loss options because there is no need for a band or staples.
    • This procedure can be revised in case of unsatisfactory weight loss.

    Considerations Of Gastric Plication Surgery

    • This procedure is still considered investigational and no long-term data currently exists to support results. However, initial results are promising.

Like any surgery, gastric plication surgery has some potential for complications; however, these problems are not common and with help from our team and dedication to a weight loss plan, most patients see excellent results. If you have any concerns about surgery, please talk to us about them and we will answer any questions you may have.

    $5800 - $7500

Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (2 hours, 150 sessions)

VERTICAL SLEEVE GASTRECTOMY: The surgeon removes approximately 70-80 percent of the stomach laparoscopically and with the help of staplers so that the stomach takes the shape of a tube or “sleeve”, in such a way that the patient can continue eating, but in much smaller amount. In addition of being restrictive this procedure has seen that the hormone that regulates the appetite, the ghrelin, diminishes, causing the patient to not be hungry for at least a year from surgery. It has an average excess weight loss at 12 months of 66%, very similar to the bypass not being that invasive.
