About Acupuncture by Balquees

The Elland Well Being Centre is a newly refurbished centre, having previously been a pub in its hey day.  It is found just at the bend down Briggate in Elland, before the road goes over the bridge towards Brighouse and Sowerby Bridge.

The acupuncture room is found on the first floor up a flight of stairs.  It is well furnished with a physiotherapy plinth which allows patients to get on easily, whether they are seated or laid down for treatment.  There is a small waiting area just outside the room on the first floor.

The Centre has its own dedicated car part for service users with a disabled space.  Service users then access the Centre via the Entrance there, which has a buzzer system  to let people in outside office hours. At the front of the Centre there is a cafe which is open to members of the public and a small waiting area for day time appointments.  There is a reception area to the front but this is just for the physiotherapy staff only.

Appointments are made by telephoning Balquees Ali or emailing. Appointments in Elland are available on Thursdays 9.00 am to 9.00pm.

Traditional acupuncture treatment for a range of health conditions  and health needs.  First appointment includes detailed consultation and treatment, lasts  up to 1.5 hours and costs £55. Subsequent appointments last up to 1 hour and cost £45 per session.

When  used as part of an acupuncture treatment so no extra charge. Used to support body acupuncture and after care in the form of acupressure and ear seeds. Can be provided as a stand alone treatment as well.

Fertility Acupuncture

Specialist area in my practice.  Suitable for women/couples who would like to have babies; naturally or with the ART/IVF and other assisted methods. Also work with women who suffer from recurrent miscarriages and other fertility challenges. Also carry out acupuncture inductions upon approval from consultant/Midwife.

I am a traditionally trained Acupuncturist with a background  and professional qualifications in teaching, nutrition and counselling.  I am an accredited and insured member of the British Acupuncture Council and abide by their codes of practice.  

I have 2 clinics: in Elland, near Halifax and in Huddersfield.  I am at the Elland on Thursday evenings from 4.30pm onwards and Friday afternoons and evenings. I am available in  and in Huddersfield rest of the time.  I provide day, evening and weekend appointments, often working on Sundays when treating women undergoing embroyo transfer or egg collection.

I am a Professional Development Lead for the British Acupuncture Council with responsibility for the continuing professional development of acupuncturists in the East of England.  I am also a West Yorkshire Regional Co-ordinator.

As well as providing high quality acupuncture services I also believe in the value of self care so I am the owner and inventor of the acUtreat brand of Simple Self Care Ear Seed Kits. The aim of these products is to enable individuals to have some management of their own health and well being as well as provide an alternative service to seeking acupuncture.  The focus of these products is auriculotherapy or ear acupuncture but without the needles.  To this end this means I have trained in advanced ear acupuncture as well as traditional acupuncture.
