Patti will now explain further about her professional experience and how she works with individuals who attend the clinic.
I have been a full time Complementary therapist since 1999, having initially embarked on training to be a Physiotherapist.
My priority is to offer a confidential and bespoke service that is tailored and based on your needs & preferences and being mindful of the specific symptoms and the length of time you have had this health issue. I will then discuss with you the available and most appropriate and effective treatment options.
As a Complementary therapist I see every day, individuals who are stressed or have a health problem that is holding them back from fully enjoying their life's. Whether the person is experiencing migraines, anxiety, back and neck pain, miscarriage, menopausal symptoms, fertility issues, low mood, bowel problems, hay fever, pregnancy related morning sickness or has a fear or phobia that is causing difficulties, I will do my very best to help.
One of my areas of expertise is working with individuals who have anxiety, self confidence issues or who are currently feeling stressed out. The priority here is for me to support the person, so they can really begin to value who they are and stop judging themselves so harshly. We will work on increasing your sense of well-being and positivity, so you can relax more and get on to lead a happier life.
Individuals are not always aware that they are experiencing anxiety, physical symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, feelings of nausea can develop. Now obviously these physical symptoms need to be checked out medically but it is common for stress and anxiety to be at the root of these physical symptoms.
A further area of expertise is working with couples who are experiencing fertility issues or have had a recent miscarriage. I offer emotional support during this challenging time and will often do Acupuncture which enhances fertility. Research shows that Acupuncture can not only enhances conception but helps maintain a healthy pregnancy. For some women they may find Emotional Freedom Technique or Hypnotherapy useful if there is a fear of giving birth.
I also work with women who on occasions experience low mood in the months following the birth of their baby.
I have been very fortunate to have gained invaluable experience (working with a wide age range of people from 4 year olds to those their nineties) in private practice, in community health projects, teaching Pilates to women in a open prison, at a specialised head injury unit, nursing homes and in the business world offering support to individual employees who are experiencing stress, anxiety or post traumatic stress.
As a professional health and well-being therapist and Yoga teacher, I regularly attend conferences and seminars to keep up to date with the latest medical research and as a means of extending my skills and knowledge.
I have worked in both national British television and on Radio Leeds in connection with my therapy and teaching work.
I am a full member of the British Acupuncture Council and the General Hypnotherapy Register and are registered with Harrogate district council as an approved Acupuncturist.
My own introduction to Complementary Therapies.
Having been a busy working mum myself of 2 daughters, I am fully aware of the many conflicting demands that life can make on us.
I first became aware of Acupuncture when I was experiencing monthly stress and hormonal headaches, (I was working as a Director of a community based charity at the time). After a few treatments my headaches stopped. I was so impressed that I took my then 9 year old daughter for Acupuncture to help with her Asthma. Natasha went for 4 treatments (one a week) and has never experienced Asthma symptoms since (she is now 28).
After this very positive experience I decided to give up my full time job in the charitable/third sector and train full time in Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture at the prestigious Northern college of Acupuncture in York (in 2010 undertaking further Acupuncture training at Middlesex university in Acupuncture & Chinese medicine classics).
Having always had a interest in human psychology and mental health (having studied counselling and social psychology at Bradford University) I have since trained in Counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and Yoga.
Free 30 minute consultations are available, if you like further information.
