James Cunnane, is the CEO of a group of successful retail and investment companies based in Dublin. In 1990 he trained in group facilitation and started working part-time, as an after-care facilitator for people recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. This progressed to facilitating groups for Adult Children of Alcoholics, and Men’s Groups. During this time, he became interested in the possibility of healing through ‘non-ordinary states of consciousness’, or altered states of consciousness. In 1994, he began training as a transpersonal therapist and holotropic breathwork facilitator, with Stanislov Grof MD.
James has been facilitating Grof Holotropic Breathwork workshops since 1997.
Through the course of his own inner journey work, he became interested in reawakening the celtic druidic traditions and purification rituals, and began leading celtic sweat lodges incorporating a 3 round system, symbolising the sun , the moon and the stars or male energy, female energy and astral energies. This ritual has evolved over the past 14 years, into what he now calls a ‘breath lodge’.
James has been involved in an ancient Indian meditation practice for the past 20 years and has incorporated this in his way of working with people. The emphasis being on working with open heart energy. He brings the values of empathy, integrity, and has learned to listen to silence, and hear what is said in that place. His other strong gift is being able to hear peoples pain, and help bring it to the surface and thereby heal it.
James works with the fundamental belief that we all have the ability to heal ourselves and endeavors in his work to hand that power back to the people who come to him for healing.
As part of his own practice he goes on retreat each year to the Peruvian Jungle,to diet and purify, and to work with the shaman.
He currently offers one to one transpersonal and deep process sessions. Also he is currently working in a mens process group, in Dublin.
