I live in Canada and had been suffering from osteoarthritis in my left shoulder for a number of years. After trying various types of alternate solutions such as physiotherapy, visco-supplementation and cortisone injections, the conclusion was reached with the doctors involved that a full shoulder replacement surgery was the best, if not the only, solution to regain life quality moving forward. I got referred to an orthopedic surgeon, but was not getting any call back, and was unable to find out when I could possibly get that call, let alone go through the surgery. I began to search on the Web for organizations providing private medical services abroad. There are many out there, advertising services in many different countries. I reached out to several of them through their sites. Wellness Travels was the only one which, in my opinion, demonstrated a serious and human approach. Even though the clinic is located in a fairly remote country (Lithuania), this was not a deterrent since I exchanged daily for several weeks with a Lithuanian contact in Canada. All my questions and concerns were addressed throughout those exchanges. In addition, I had consultations with a very experienced Canadian based orthopedic surgeon, who performed thousands of surgeries throughout his career, and took the time to travel to the clinic, meet the surgeons and inspect the facilities thoroughly. He went to the extent of climbing up to the roof to verify the ventilation systems. With the coordinator we scheduled a date for the surgery and determined the best travel plans. When I finally got there, the clinic was exactly as what I saw on their website and what the doctor told me: immaculate and as modern as any other world class facility. From a pricing perspective, the cost was very reasonable, compared to the those advertised by the other sites. The surgery and rehab services were outstanding at every level. The surgeon even took the time to visit me every day during my stay to follow up on my progress. The physiotherapist showed up even on weekends to work with me and the other foreign patients. Surgery such as the one I got is a major undertaking, and an even more daunting one when travelling far from home away from family and friends. I took the risk to go for it, and it was worthwhile! In general, people who know me would confirm that I am a very demanding customer. Had a tummy tuck with the lovely Dr Mindaugas Kazanavicius. I felt at ease straight away and have received excelled care by all the staff and nurses at the hospital. I would highly recommend it. And it’s excellent value for money, I doubt I would have got any better in the UK.
I had a hip replacement operation at Nordorthopaedics two weeks ago. It was the first operation of my life so I was a bit nervous, not about the operation but the recovery! I needn’t have worried. Everything went amazingly easy. The staff, from logistics to surgeons to aftercare nurses, were all so friendly and professional. Apart from having an operation it was more like a five star hotel, inc the food. I did rehab in UPA Druskininkai for a week after the surgery and it was just the same. I cannot praise both places highly enough. If I ever need another operation I will go to Nordorthopaedics without hesitation. A Lithuanian truck driver told me about the clinic and suggested I call them. I did, and within three weeks I had organised everything with the help of Rūta at the clinic. I arrived late in Kaunas on a Sunday night, was collected by the logistics team and dropped to my hotel from the airport. So no stress with arriving at whatever time you arrive. They will be there for you. They picked me up the next morning, took me to the clinic where I did the paperwork, got an x-ray and blood tests and was shown to my room in the clinic. The doctor operated on my hip at 3pm that day and they had me doing physio at 10pm that night. Then they gave me such a huge meal like it was a five star hotel. I was amazed that I could actually stand up that very evening. The only sore part of my body was where I had the staples on my hip. To this day I still find it laughable that it was so comfortable having my procedure done. The only advice I have for anyone thinking about having a surgical procedure at Nordorthopaedics is GO, don’t wait, just go.
I had a tummy tuck, lipo and muscle work done in this clinic in July 2018. The clinic is very professional, I was really impressed with the facilities and staff they were all so friendly which put me at ease straight away. I am so happy with the results, although I am returning for revision to remove a small bulge/fat just over the scare. My belly button looks great and the scar has healed beautifully. I had my surgery on 20th July at 11 am before I went into the operating room the surgeon came and had a chat went through my options 1.gastric sleeve or 2 gastric bypasses we bought agreed on the gastric sleeve. I had a range of blood done and a coloscopy to make sure I had no contraindications to the surgery. The clinic was very clean and the nurses were very friendly and helpful at all times. The surgery was successful and my scars are very neat and very minimal. The nurses were prompt with pain meds and I felt comfortable in the clinic. The surgeon came to visit the day after and the day I was being discharged to check how I was and if I felt good. There was a chat with a nutritionist and I received a pouch with a diet plan. I felt this part of the aftercare was bit minimal and would have liked to see her again due to pain medication I don't feel I was fully focused that day and I would have liked to ask her more questions but other than that my experience was very good. I have private contact with a consultant Victor who is very helpful and always try his best to answer my questions before I travelled, during my stay and also since I've come home. I felt my overall experience was very good and I felt looked after while in the B and W clinic.
