Were overjoyed recalling back all those pain that we’ve gone through

4.8 50 ICSI - Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection, IUI - Intrauterine Insemination

After four years of trying to conceive and to no avail, we decided to seek medical help. We got to know of Dr Colin Lee Soon Soo by a friend of mine. After consulting Dr Lee, I was told that I’m diagnosed with advanced endometriosis (Stage IV). There is no question that chances for pregnancy in endometriosis are significantly decreased. Women like me have less than 1% chance for conceiving in a normal cycle. Since 2010, I've had two laparoscopies done. In 2011, Dr Colin suggested Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), a procedure that involves placing my husband sperm directly inside my uterus to obtain fertilisation. After the second attempt, I finally got pregnant but sadly, I miscarried at 6 weeks. We had another attempt of IUI but again, it failed. I was extremely devastated with my infertility matter. Early 2012, Dr Lee suggested us to try IVF. We agreed and therefore, my stimulation drug injections started. I’m able to get approximately 20 eggs retrieved on the day of egg pick-up. 3 days later, I was told to have 12 good quality embryos and had 3 best quality embryos transferred into my womb on the same day. The balances of the 9 embryos were frozen. Sadly, my beta HCG was negative on day 14. We did not give up hope and continued for another 2 frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles. Unfortunately, both cycles failed as well. We still have 3 more frozen embryos left and I told my husband, let’s try for the last FET cycle, if it fails again, we will decide whether to go for adoption. finally!! 2 weeks after the 3rd FET cycle, I had a positive beta HCG! I was pregnant!! Now, I’m 3 months pregnant with singleton! Both my husband and I were overjoyed recalling back all those pain that we’ve gone through. Thank you Alpha Fertility Centre, the doctors and staff that have been with us throughout.

I had an successful IVF in Alpha Fertility Centre after I had failed 2 cycles in other fertility clinics. I think it is because the most experienced fertility specialists with highest success rates comparable to international level, is now in Alpha Fertility Centre. I was under Dr Colin Lee's care. AI - Artificial Insemination

Blastocyst Transfer

At Alpha International Fertility Centre, we offer blastocyst culture to:

  • couples who have failed to achieve a pregnancy despite having had apparently good quality embryos transferred on three or more occasions.
  • couples who are concerned about the risk of multiple pregnancy and wish to have only one embryo transferred.
  • couples with eight or more frozen embryos who want to optimise the outcome of their frozen embryo transfer cycle.
  • couples who have explored all other treatment options and want to assess the developmental potential of their embryos.

Cycle Monitoring

Egg Donor

Egg donation or ovum donation is a possible solution for women:

  • who cannot produce eggs due to menopause or have been diagnosed with premature ovarian failure (POF) - also referred to as premature menopause or early menopause
  • above age 37 who have been repeatedly unsuccessful with IVF, particularly if it is known that the infertility is not male factor
  • who carry a genetic disorder they do not wish to pass on to their child
  • who have had multiple unexplained miscarriages

Egg Freezing

Egg Sharing

Embryo Donation

Embryo Freezing

Embryos, oocytes and sperm are stored in a vapour phase liquid nitrogen storage tank that is not dependent on power. This cutting edge technology allows the safekeeping of your embryos, oocytes and sperm from risk of cross contamination in liquid phase tanks.

FET - Frozen Embryo Transfer

Since 1984, thousands of babies have been born worldwide after having undergone embryo cryopreservation. Freezing of excess good quality embryos provides patients with a "back-up" should the initial fresh embryo transfer does not result in a pregnancy. It costs less  than starting a new IVF cycle and often with minimal medications. Frozen embryo transfers have allowed many of our patients to achieve more than one pregnancy from a single cycle of ovarian stimulation.

ICSI - Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection

ICSI is a technique that has been developed to assist fertilisation when sperm quality is particularly poor. Intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) involves injecting a single sperm directly into an egg in order to fertilise it. The fertilised egg (embryo) is then transferred to the woman’s womb. The procedure for ICSI is similar to that of IVF, but instead of fertilisation taking place in a dish, the embryologist selects sperm from the sample and a single sperm is injected directly into each egg. The injected eggs are checked the day after to see if fertilisation has occurred.

IUI - Intrauterine Insemination

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a procedure that involves placing of sperm inside a woman’s uterus to facilitate fertilisation. It usually only requires the insertion of a speculum and then the cannula. This fertility treatment does not involve the manipulation of a woman’s eggs. The goal of IUI is to increas the number of sperm that reach the fallopian tubes and subsequently increases the chances of fertilisation.

IVF - In Vitro Fertilisation

It is a process of fertilisation occurred outside the body which involves manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. An embryo will be formed if the fertilisation is successful. Then, followed by an embryo transfer into the mother’s womb, a procedure which involves physically placing the embryo in the uterus.

IVM - In Vitro Maturation

Conventional Assisted Reproduction Technology (ART) involves injections of high doses of follicular stimulating hormones. This may lead to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) for patients with polycystic ovary (PCO) or polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). In vitro maturation (IVM) of oocytes is an innovative ART applicable for selected couples with male factor, tubal factor, unexplained infertility and PCO/PCOS. Immature Germinal Vesicle (GV) stage oocytes are retrieved during the woman’s natural cycle without or minimal preceding hormone treatment. Oocyte maturation to Metaphase II stage oocytes takes place in vitro using the specially designed IVM culture medium. Standard ICSI or IVF protocols are used after maturation has been obtained or
after subsequent insemination and fertilization.

Ovulation Induction

After you have been accepted for an IVF treatment at Alpha International Fertility Centre, you will be given a prescription of drugs and an instruction sheet. Our physician will assist you to plan your treatment program and you will be advised of the approximate dates that you are required to come to the Clinic. Hence, you and your partner can make the necessary arrangements.

PGD - Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis

Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is used to analyze embryos genetically before their transfer into the uterus. PGD offers couples at risk the chance to have an unaffected child, without facing termination of pregnancy. Embryos are obtained by in vitro fertilization with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and are biopsied mostly on day 3; blastocyst biopsy is mentioned as a possible alternative. The genetic analysis is performed on one or two blastomeres by fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) or micro-array comparative genomic hybridization (MaCGH). The embryo is usually unharmed and can go on to develop just as though these one or two cells were never removed. PGD with IVF, can now prevent couples from having to face the difficulty of giving birth to children with almost any of the genetic defects such as alpha-Thalassaemia, beta-Thalassaemia, Down syndrome, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, sickle cell anemia, Tay-Sachs, Gaucher’s disease, mental retardation, sex-linked disorder, etc., that are a concern to every woman who ever gets pregnant. With PGD, we can also better understand the problem of recurrent, early miscarriage and the genetic errors that arise in pregnancies in older mothers.
