Paul Baines graduated from Bristol University Dental School in 1976. In 1985, after working in two local practices for nine years, the move was made to Old Market and a new practice was started with colleagues.

Although the practice is ‘general’ in the range of treatments provided, Paul’s main interest is in restoring and maintaining the adult dentition. He has undertaken training at East Grinstead in the surgical aspects of dental implant treatment, having been involved with using the Straumann Dental implant system since 1990.

From 1985 to 1997 Paul was a member of Avon Local Dental Committee and chairman from 1991-1997. He continues to act as an advisor and dental assessor to the NHS in the South West and South Wales and as an advisor to the NHS Ombudsman. He is currently a dental advisor for the largest UK-based medical indemnity organisation.

1997: by examination awarded Membership in General Dental Surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons. (MGDS RCS Eng)

2004: on assessment awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners, Royal College of Surgeons (FFGDP).

Currently, Paul is an examiner for the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons.

BDS FDS     

Jane qualified from Bristol University Dental School in 1978 following which she achieved her Royal College Fellowship while holding a lecturer’s post at Sheffield Dental School. Having returned to Bristol, she completed specialist training and was accepted on to the GDC Specialist Register in 1995.

Jane works one day a week at Old Market Street, where she is pleased to accept patients on referral for specialist opinion and treatment. Her areas of expertise include periodontics (treatment of gum disease), endodontics (root fillings) and advanced restorative planning and care including implants and alternative options for complex cases.

In addition she holds the position of Associate Postgraduate Dean at Bristol Dental Hospital where she is involved with postgraduate teaching and the clinical training of hospital staff

Caroline Baines graduated from Bristol University Dental School in 1978 and has been in practice in central Bristol since 1979.

She gained her Diploma in Postgraduate Dental Studies from Bristol University in 1994 having completed further study in: dental materials, oral surgery, periodontics and restorative dentistry. She has since completed an additional period of postgraduate study in paediatric dentistry.

From 1994 – 2005 Caroline held the post of dental practice inspector for Avon Health Authority / PCT.

Caroline has interest in all aspects of general dental practice with a particular emphasis on child dental health, preventive dental care and cosmetic dentistry

Having qualified with honours from Bristol Dental Hospital in 1976, Mr Falconer Hall, being a native of the South West, spent his earliest years in general family practice in Fowey, Cornwall. Returning to practice in Bristol in the late seventies then led, in 1985, to the establishing from scratch of his own practice partnership –thedentistsoldmarket(formerly called The Old Market Dental Practice).

Mr Falconer Hall’s main interest lies in being a general family practitioner, with a wide knowledge and experience of all aspects of general dentistry. Being well established in Bristol for over twenty years has also allowed a strong referral network of respected colleagues to be built up for any areas of more specialised dental care. This enables the provision of, or advice on, a huge range of dental matters, from earliest childhood development to the latest cosmetic options.

There is a strong commitment to ongoing professional development both in terms of courses to update knowledge and techniques and also by virtue of membership of various societies and the reading of associated journals.

Mr Falconer Hall holds the title of ‘Honorary Teacher in Dental Practice’ from Bristol University for involvement in a part time, outreach undergraduate teaching programme held in the practice.

BDS

Jonny qualified from Bristol University Dental School in 2012. After completing his Foundation Year in the market town of Frome he has now joined thedentistsoldmarket.

He is currently undertaking his final exams for Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties, Royal College of Surgeons of England (MJDF RCS Eng). Continuing with postgraduate training, Jonny is working towards becoming fully qualified in the safe administration of dental treatment under sedation. Jonny has a particular interest in Oral Surgery and Restorative Dentistry; this includes using Crowns and Bridges to restore gaps without the need for dental implants.

Outside of the practice Jonny loves all athletic pursuits, the more energetic the better! Though his favourites have to be skiing and travelling; having visited 55 countries and counting!

“I am from Malaga, Spain. I wanted to become a dentist since I was a child, as there are many dental professionals in my family. I studied for my degree in Madrid and graduated in 2010. More recently I gained a Masters in Implantology. When I finished my degree I had the option of staying in Madrid as a dentist, but I liked the idea of moving to a different country and looking for new experiences. I came to England, originally to practice in Lincoln, and I have been here almost 5 years.
