Breast implants may be placed on top of or below the pectoralis muscle, which is below the breast. The way Dr. Ben places your implant will be affected by your anatomy, the size and shape of the implant chosen and your goals. There are basically four choices for incisions. Again, the factors affecting this choice will be your anatomy, your goals and the size and type of implant chosen. Dr. Ben can place the implant with an incision under the breast, with an incision around the bottom of the aereola, through the bellybutton or through the armpit. Each type of incision has its advantages and disadvantages and it is best to discuss the types of incision during your consultation with Dr. Ben. Patients can usually return to light activity within two to three days after surgery. Full activity can be resumed within two to three weeks, but activities that entail vigorous bouncing should be avoided for six weeks.

Facelift

Facelift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Ben makes incisions near the ear and hairline so that skin may be tightened. Excess skin is removed and muscles and tissues are tightened. Recovery from surgery takes a few weeks and the results are visible once swelling has subsided.

Tummy Tuck

The procedure then is done under general anesthetic. An incision is made near the bikini line and the excess skin is pulled tightly, down and inward. Then, it is removed along with underlying fatty tissue. The muscles are tightened and the skin is skillfully re-draped. The incision is closed with a requisite number of layers of dissolvable sutures. Usually, the belly button will have an incision around it due to of the amount of skin removed. Following tummy tuck cosmetic surgery; a compression garment, similar to a girdle is worn for a few weeks. Dr. Ben will advise on how long to use this garment. Tummy tucks result in a sizable scar, which, though hidden, may thicken or widen requiring later revision. Also, it takes many months for the scar to fade. Recovery from a tummy tuck may take several weeks. Swelling in the area may take several months to go down and patients may not fully realize final results for many months following the surgery.
