8 days post-op. Went to Termessos Hospital in Antalya with Proff Dr Umut Gunduz through RenovatedMe. Cost £2800. Includes a lot more than most including insurance for a year in case anything goes wrong. They will pay for you to go back and treat you etc. The care was amazing. Best experience I have had considering its surgery! They can’t do enough for you. All of the surgery is done to UK/EU regs. And the amount of paperwork I was given to hand to my GP was amazing!

The team at Nordbariatric were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. From the very first email I sent they have been there to answer every question(no matter how weird or irrational some of my questions were). I had all my questions answered and all the information I could need and they still waited patiently while I went and researched and contacted other clinics to compare and make sure Nords was the team for me... They proved to absolutely be the team for me and after all my research and contact with other clinics(in various places in Lithuania and further afield) they were there waiting and ready to roll when I contacted them to say I had made my decision and was choosing their team. My time in Lithuania was fantastic and the care I received from all involved was exceptional. The girls at the desk in the clinic, the nurses in clinic and on the ward, the Professor all couldn't possibly be nicer, more knowledgeable and caring. Even the logistics team of drivers who pick you up at the airport and shuttle you to and from clinic etc are lovely people and some are downright hilarious!!! I couldn't recommend Nordbariatric highly enough. If members of my own immediate family were looking for a team and surgeon I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving them in the hands of anyone only this team.

Gastric sleeve surgery, or a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, is a surgical procedure during which a part of the stomach is removed leaving the remaining part to function as a new smaller stomach. The stomach is an organ which functions as a temporary food reservoir and it also produces hormones, such as gastrin and ghrelin. Ghrelin is associated with the feeling of hunger. Therefore, the removal of a large portion of the pouch can favorably alter the hunger hormone production. After a gastric sleeve procedure a patient’s food intake is decreased and they feel full faster. It is a bariatric surgery, which helps patients to lose as much as 50 to 70 percent of their excess weight.

The surgical technique went through numerous modifications in order to decrease the number of complications and is now one of the most frequently performed bariatric surgeries worldwide.

Sleeve Gastrectomy is weight loss procedure aimed at permanently removing 75% of the stomach to make it smaller. This means you will only be able to eat small meals. Your surgeon will explain the benefits and risks of having a sleeve gastrectomy, and will also discuss the alternatives to this operation. This is a keyhole operation that requires a general anaesthetic. You should expect to be in hospital for 1-2 days and the surgeon will discuss this with you. The operation involves converting the stomach into a long, thin tube by stapling it along its length and removing the excess stomach. As the stomach is smaller, it is able to hold less food and water and gives a feeling of fullness and satisfaction after eating. I had the gastric sleeve at Oasis in Tijuana with Dr. Green. From beginning to end, the experience was so worth it. Dr. Green was amazing— I got a picture of my stomach that he cut out, and it was so interesting. He gave me his personal number so if I had any questions, he could answer them. I did have a couple, and he answered them professionally and within minutes! I had zero complications. The hospital is kind of sketchy, but everyone knows what they are doing. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, though, and throughout my time, I felt well cared for. I have lost 60 pounds in less than 5 months! I can’t believe I paid so little for such a major, major positive change in my life.

VSG /Sleeve gastrectomy, also known as vertical sleeve gastrectomy, is a  procedure that restricts food intake in order to facilitate weight loss. Surgeons at MBC  have bee performing this procedure of the last 8 years laparoscopically, and remove approximately 85 percent of the stomach, leaving behind a small tube or "sleeve." Because the size of the stomach is dramatically reduced during this procedure, MBC gastric sleeve surgery patients cannot consume the same amount of food that they could pre-operatively. Over time, the restriction of calories and food intake, results in significant weight loss.   In addition, the removal of a portion of the stomach actually eliminates some of the hormones which can stimulate hunger. However, unlike other stomach stapling procedure, all of the stomach’s functions are preserved. This means that there are far fewer restrictions on the foods that patients can consume after the procedure. The amount of food that patients can consume, however, is considerably limited. As with all surgical weight loss programs, it is imperative that gastric sleeve patients adhere to a strict postoperative diet. Once goal weight is achieved, usually 1–2 years after surgery, most patients can consume about 1000–1200 calories per day.
